Friday night, in front of a packed room at Club Capri, David Gogo and Jack de Keyzer showed once again why they’re two of the most popular blues musicians around. Neither is a stranger to Thorold, as both have appeared numerous times at the Canal Bank Shuffle in past years, the organizers of which also put together Friday night’s show.
Both blues greats used the same back-up band, who complemented each with a creative keyboard sounds, a solid rhythm background, an agile bass line, and a wailing sax. First Gogo and then de Keyzer each played a set, followed by the feature set with the two together on stage, ably presenting the show’s billing as the “Guitar Wars”.
The folks who bring us the Canal bank Shuffle every October have once again brought a great show to Thorold. With another show at the Club Capri in April and local bars hiring blues musicians as their entertainment, Thorold is fast becoming the place to go for quality blues.
