For those of you who were following this, there had been some doubt of the survival of the Santa Claus Parade here in Thorold after the en masse resignation of the previous committee. And this on the 25th anniversary of the parade (its 26th edition). Well GOOD NEWS!
The ball has been picked up by a couple of Thorold residents who don’t want their kids to miss out on seeing the Jolly Old Elf himself arrive right here in Thorold. Lauren Kraus and Myra Robertson, co-chairs of the new committee, appeared at Thorold Council Tuesday night to announce that this year’s parade will be going ahead as usual on the last Saturday of November (the 26th) at 4:00 p.m., rain or shine (or snow, as the case may be).
They also came to appeal for more help, both on the committee and on parade day (especially parade day) and for donations to help make this event go. And to ask the Town Crier to lead it, as usual (no problem there).
If you can donate your time or money to the cause and keep this Thorold tradition going, please contact Lauren at 905-359-1408, email LKrause@postmedia.com or Myra at 289-214-1908, email MRobertson@postmedia.com . They’ll be happy to hear from you.
