I went down to have a look at the new washrooms going up in McAdam Park near the gazebo and splash pad. Peter Mihaychuk, the man who, with his brother Bill, were doing the block work here when I arrived. Peter told me this all came about because he kept riding the City about the lack of washrooms here. When he went to City Councillor Jim Handley, Jim took hold of the reins and sought permission from the City to have volunteers build it, and then proceeded to find the donations and volunteers to do the job. Next summer, when the kids come to the park to play baseball or use the splashpads, they will have washrooms, subject to City rules I expect.
Kudos to Councillor Handley, the Mihaychuk brothers and all the others who donated time and materials to this worthwhile project.
Now, Jim, how about a new arena?
